This is as good as a feel good rom com gets. Stupid, fun and just cute. Wouldn't happen in a million years but you will feel good and have fun when it ends, and will have a smile on your face. What else can you ask for? Oh, and Theron might the most beautiful woman on the planet..

Theron is amazing and her and Rogen make a great duo, with surprising chemistry. The script is mostly funny but some scenes are weirdly devoid of laughs and there’s this weird scene about how we should be nice to religious Republicans that provoked some severe raised eyebrows. Still, mostly a decent romcom.

Long Shot fails as political satire, fails as a stoner comedy, and fails as a romance. Rogan's performance is even worse than Ice Cube's kid's poor impression of his old man, while Theron's presence gives the production a level of class it really doesn't deserve. To top it off, there isn't a single original idea on show and you've seen all the gags before done better. Why do I keep wasting my money dragging myself to the cinema to watch this half-arsed, terribly written shite again and again?

Sometimes this wants so desperately to sound woke and connected to #meetoo and #timesup that it feels just clumsy and disjointed -- specially when it tries to comment politics in a more direct, straightforward way (Serkis' Bannon et al). When it works, it's mostly because Charlize's so precise characterization -- to the point you believe its stoner subplot, she partying and solving a diplomatic issue on drugs with an Arab leader.

More Seth Rogen-y than I was expecting (since he wasn't listed as a writer), but that's a good thing for me. Theron has always been hilarious when she wants to be (see Arrested Development), and her comedy chemistry with Rogen is great. The story is cheesy garbage, but it's really funny.

Probably a better than average romantic comedy all things considered. Theron has real comedy chops and a goofball like Rogen is a good counterpoint. the politics are mostly wasted but the whole thing slides by on chemistry anyways.

For a silly romcom featuring that weed dude it was pretty good movie, more than I expected. Had a laugh, rolled along with the plot, got invested enough to care, and that's all it takes to make a good movie experience isn't it.

Solid in pretty much every way but not a very distinctive or interesting movie in the end. Weirdly ambivalent politically despite its premise, disappointing on a narrative level, and rarely uproariously funny. Biggest props to Charlize Theron, who is apparently shockingly good at everything she does and is easily the best thing about this movie.

The Long Shot is really a movie that just doesn't work. Charlize Theron is really good in this and really balances the duel tones of the film. O'Shea Jackson Jr. also gives a surprisingly good performance. However Seth Rogen is the films big weak point, well him and the terrible tonal shifts. Seth has a niche where he can be funny but this isn't it and also he and Theron have absolutely zero chemistry together.

Almost walked out 4 or 5 times. The bad news is the cause celeb was a liberal anti-pollution "initiative" to save the bees, trees and seas. The good news is, it wasn't global warming. My score of 50 is an average between the peaks (80) and valleys (20).

It seems willing to take shots at a bunch of different groups of people, which I enjoy, but seems unwilling to do so to one particular group, which I won't mention because I don't have enough space to explain my position. But I did really enjoy it... it was funny enough, Theron was awesome as per usual, Rogan did well. Despite my criticism earlier it succeeds more because of it's script, rather than doing anything uniquely special in other technical aspects. Still, solid romcom.

A silly movie, able to balance smart jokes with dick jokes. Its a political comedy, so it gets cheesy as hell at the end but it gets points for not forcing an over the top Trump metaphor to be the source of "humor" . Also somehow Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen have chemistry? It's crazy you would never think they should.

I liked some of Seth Rogen's previous stuff, so I decided to give this movie a shot. Some raunchy jokes and pop-culture references, but there's also topical and political humour in there too. I do think Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron work very well together in this movie. They both keep the movie engaging to watch. The jokes don't all land but the decent ones gave me a good laugh. If Seth Rogen gets on your nerves though or you don't like crude humour, then it probably won't be your cup of tea.

I can't call this as uproariously funny as some of Levine's other productions, nor some of its recent contemporaries that I've given this ranking to (Game Night, Blockers, etc.), but, what I can say is that I enjoyed and will remember more about this movie than most of those others. Walking in with zero expectations, I was treated to a movie of surprising quality; entertaining, with solid storytelling. Cast Charlize Theron in everything, because she can do anything and make you buy into it.

Better than average romcom, but that isn't saying much. Seth Rogen has a natural charisma that makes him easy to root for and likeable, yet his awkward rant style is taken way too far in this movie. This film is one of his worst. There are some good laughs but there is a lot of crap that you are forced to sit through. Overall a very stupid movie that is mildly entertaining.

I'll never be above loving a good underdog rom-com. Charlize and Rogen are too good for a bit of a wonky premise to let bother them. It's one of the more memorable, easygoing comedies for me in years.

Theron and Rogen have surprising chemistry. They're the emotional anchor to an otherwise politically-charged romcom, which takes large left swings followed by small right swings, making it feel strangely unsure of itself. For the most part, it works because of the leads and the character comedy, rather than the larger set dressings. It's not uproarious, but my cheeks hurt from smiling coming out of the theatre, so it definitely made me feel things.

Charlize Theron is the only reason this movie works somewhat. Her pairing with Seth Rogen works till they decide to get close. After that it is just an eyesore. What really got to me was the seemingly comedic treatment of the US Presidency. The movie did give me some laughs and carries some messages. That's a saving grace.

One of the most boring looking movies I've seen in a while. Has its issues with blending comedy and drama. And virtue signaling. But gets the important things right. Theron embodies this character as well as you'd expect her too. Since I'm used to her brilliance, though, as is the whole world, I was more positively surprised by June Diane Raphael and Alexander Skarsgard. His laugh was my favorite thing. Well, second to Charlize's little monologue at the end. Romantic as fuck.

Theron is good, while Rogen's juvenile schtick is tiresome. Admittedly some of the jokes are funny but the writing is weak, padding the plot with a plethora of pop culture references that instantly date the film. The approach to climate change, feminism and the power behind politics, all read as unsubtle socially contemporary platitudes. Even the theme of compromise is undermined by the stakes and the ending. Ultimately Long Shot is made passable by its RomCom clichés, and somewhat its premise.

Starts off fun (but mildly annoying at Seth Rogen's character's ineptness), gets hilarious, but then just fizzles halfway through around the drug scene and turns into exactly what you would have predicted from a rom com. Fav scene: Rogen's Swedish outfit.

I realized during this movie that I really hate two twist scripts. In worst case scenarios. Long Shot was nice movie till the second twist. And that is the problem in majority of this sort scripted films. I didn't like the Lady Chatterley's lover variation per se but main leads worked fine together.

While it tries to be endearing it fails at being practical and void of anything other than well timed comedy. It aims to blend off the wall political satire with very overt dick jokes. Most of it works, largely due to this being Rogens entire career rolled into one overzealous attempt to be smarter than the rest. Odenkirks president was a complete misfire from which I expected more from.

A quite refreshing romantic comedy that succeeds in showing two adults fall in love. Oddly, that is a rare concept in recent films. There are quite a few laughs and both leads have a bizarre chemistry that works well. Theron is probably the funnier of the two, while Seth Rogan is actually given a character to play that isn't the dumbest person in the room. I dug it.

Attempting to recapture the spirit of high concept rom-coms of the 90s is a noble idea ("it's PRETTY WOMAN meets THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT!") and Theron's pained portrait of "it's tough to be the king" is laudable, but a lumbering pace and too many sidesteps into goofy absurdity bring it down (Theron's stoned conversation with world leaders is the nadir). Generally fine work by the support cast helps; while Rogen is a likable presence, he feels miscast here and lacks chemistry with Theron.

It takes itself too seriously. For the sake of romance, but at the cost of comedy. Immagine it as a early-Allen movie: there would be self-irony on and by the male character throughout the movie, because it's really hard to believe that the Charlotte would find Fred attractive basically from the start. Instead of highlighting this absurdity and play with it, they choose to lower the Theron character at the Rogen character level, to make it a believable love story and... drugs are fun, i guess?

I’ve enjoyed director Levine’s previous work for the most part, and while I haven't been too excited about his recent choices, he seems to be doing steady work in different genres. This one is an OK dramedy which doesn’t shy away from some serious themes like gender equality, state of media and politics, branding, etc. That’s why the latter part felt like a major copout and lowered the film to yet another rom-com. 2hrs was also a bit much. Rogan and Theron are likeable.

Perpetuates the notion that every average flabby loser can snag the hot successful woman way out of his league with little to no effort because his basic maleness should be enough to impress. Any feminist overtones fall flat and feel trite. Theron can do anything thrown at her and steals every scene without even meaning to.

This film reminded me that we should demand better visual storytelling from our comedies. Most of them look like dogshit. This one doesn't, it even has a couple nicely executed visual ideas (dancing in a private room right next to a big party). I want more of that instead of me being actively surprised when it happens.
