Some ideas are innovative, for lack of a better word, but there is nothing funny here. It's just a mish-mash of unworkable and unengaging plot. Not as annoying as I expected, which is a relative positive. Dan Aykroyd plays a usual character for him.

Clark's career declined after L.C, but he isn't solely to blame for its failure. His direction is passable and the action scenes are surprisingly decent. The problem lies in the script which contains a few choice left field references (e.g. Camus, Chaucer etc) that amount to little more than throwaway lines. Aykroyd was also too old for the part, and his impressions (especially of the Roadrunner) are embarrassingly unfunny. Hackman plays it straight and comes out intact, but he can't save it.

Its bad but not appallingly so like so many critics claimed it was. If you caught this on tv in the 90s, you would stop and watch it, at least until the next commercial break.

To the layman this is kind of silly, kind of dumb. To me, genius. I have such a soft spot for this movie that pretty much bombed originally. I love it.

True to form for Bob Clark, painfully not funny and ugly to boot. Utter crap

Poor, coarse-toned comedy thriller, one of the worst movies of the decade; the jokes are based on madness and violence, and Aykroyd's lunatic turns are embarrassing.

Not a future classic, but not really bad either. Get's a bit of a bump because Dan Aykroyd's impressions are amazing.

A movie signaling the end of a great run of comedies from Hollywood. Also, Gene Hackman and comedy are not always a good mix, save Young Frankenstein.
