It's a neat little inversion of Americana folk tales that is hampered by production quality better suited for the Lifetime channel. The performances, while far from stilted are, at best, adequate. This is all too say that it's worth a watch if you enjoy hyperrealist portraits of backwood America (like Mud and Shotgun Stories), otherwise you're not missing too much by passing on this one.

This movie seemed to be going down a bad path before surprising me with a decent ending. Leven Rambin gave a good performance. The story is set in a remote rural area where ignorance and superstition are commonplace. Good music and production quality. Overall, It was interesting, satisfying and worth watching. But it makes me feel that part of our country is about as smart as a box of rocks.

The first half or so was just kind of slow and boring, but I think the end made up for it. I honestly don't know if some of the characters were stereotypes of people living in the backwoods or if that's how people really are.. so it always seemed to me like they were just caricatures and that kind of took me out of it, but I think the performances were pretty good.
