I developed and prepared this material over the last year or so, mostly in comedy clubs. This special kind of goes back to when I used to just make noises and be funny for no particular reason. It felt right to shoot this special in a club to give it that live immediate intimate feeling. The show is about an hour long. (Louis CK)

Not quite as amazing as his previous specials and I think I know why: undershirts. There is no way you get fatter but less sweaty...so he must be wearing some sort of highly absorbent (probably cotton) undershirt. Fucking sellout to the cotton undershirt corporate business machine.

Not his most solid work, but his worst is better than most comic's best material.

Worst from Louis yet, it's just very generic. Still ok if you care to watch another of his.

Ostensibly a return to C.K.’s roots when he “used to just make noises and be funny for no particular reason” – unfortunately this does have a somewhat early days, amateurish feel to it at times that has the unmistakable feel of a comedian working out some rough edges to their material, but it’s symptomatic of the entire act that it never really comes together or establishes a credible rhythm. Not terrible, but a disappointment after some of his better shows.

I was so trepidatious watching this after the disappointing and overly-dramatic fourth season of Louie, but Louis has made a quick comeback with a funny new special. Meanly opinionated, misanthropic, unapologetic, spiteful, but funny. He does well here what I thought he always did well, and that's make often short rant-y jokes that are more silly than they are politicized.

Let's just agree that Louis C.K. isn't really stretching himself here. But while this will hardly ever go down as his definitive work, it remains a hilarious laughfest. It being less ambitious than previous specials of his shouldn't detract from what it is all about: by the time of this he's reached the status of reverence and he's kicking back a bit with more straightforward premises and a bigger reliance on the (charismatic) vocal and facial delivery. And the results are very, very funny.

I wouldn't go so far as to say this is his best overall work, but when you're talking about Louis you're already working within the perimeters of brilliance. Compared to previous specials this may be the worst, which truly defines the concept of relativity. This one only had 5 moments of side splitting laughter compared to the 10+ I've become accustomed to. He fully discloses that he went back to an old style so fair warning. The social commentary is still what we've come to expect, just sparse.

It's not his best, but it's not his worst either. I feel like this will be underrated because of its lack of really "social" jokes or ones about hating his family. It doesn't feel like a special that game from someone at the top of the comedy world, but that's fine because it still has a lot of big laughs.

Feels like a collection of Louis C.K.'s b-sides, which is still pretty good. It also feels like a collection of his older, more absurd comedy combined with his newer, more family-oriented stuff. The results are still funny, as is to be expected with a Louis C.K. special.

Probably the weakest of his specials that I've seen, but even then it's still better than most other comedian's best works. It starts off a little slow, but really picks up by the middle section. It's also fun to see perhaps today's biggest stand-up shoot a special in a comedy club instead of a large venue.

Louis C.K.'s TV show changed my opinion about him for the better, bet I never liked his stand-up specials. Just not my cup of tea. Live at the Comedy Store is worst his special, and there is no way he will get any more fans with it. Not that he is short on them anyway.

Kind of a disappointment, really. Compared to his older stuff, didn't really break any new ground.

Enjoyable enough but pretty average Louis C.K. stand-up. Amusing throughout, with a few big laughs, but despite the fact there's no flat sections there's pretty much nothing memorable here either.

Never a dull moment. He's too comfortable doing stand-up at this point.

This is a real step backwards for Louis CK. It's still worth a watch if you're already a fan for the few good moments sprinkled in there, but I'd definitely avoid this if you are not already familiar with his better work like "Oh My God" and "Shameless". Even the best in the business can strike out sometimes, and even though I feel let down by this I'm still looking forward to whatever he does next.

Probably not Louis' finest work, but this is still a pretty wonderful, hilarious way to spend an hour of your time.
