Louis Theroux: Surviving America's Most Hated Family

On the one hand, one cannot help but wonder whether this very small church is really deserving of a third program over a dozen years (and there is evidence here that the preceding ones contributed to its maintenance by attracting new members); on the other hand, it is interesting to see how Theroux seems torn between a weariness that seems bothered by treading old ground and irritation that his "humanist" challenge doesn't seem able to dent the persistence of the dogmatism he wishes to expose.

In an age where people like the Phelps have become normalized thru the last gasps of late Capitalist demagogues desperately clinging to any hope you'd think this wouldn't be as affecting. Buuut you get to clearly see the desperation and sadness of the Phelps clan and you start to really feel for them or at least I did thanks Louis! Low-key used to think the one WBC lady was cute but now she's married a basically admitted incel desperate for validation such is life for desperate people.
