Borowczyk is yet another tragic figure of cinema by which I mean a filmmaker who was exploring new ideas and indeed new forms of cinema that was forced to compromise (as always, by producers) his vision in order to continuing making films. In this particular case, Borowczyk and his (erotic) films were pornified. But unlike some of the other victims of 'the move making business', Walerian was not bound to film, for he had other artistic outlets. But this did mean a great loss for cinema.
