I didn't know I needed a movie about a grieving man getting hooked on huffing gas. I didn't know I needed a movie about RC enthusiasts. I didn't know I needed both of those films to be the same film.

recommended viewing for RC Racing enthusiasts and grieving widows... also how cool is a movie if it has both Phil Hoffman and a Jim Rourke soundtrack?

Nice character piece for Philip Seymour Hoffman, plus a great score by Jim O'Rourke, one of my favorites. Depressing, but with some good comic moments.

I don't understand why so many people dislike this film. Acting is superb, in what is possibly Hoffman's best performance. The script, written by his brother, balances tragedy and comedy extraordinarily well. It's a dark comedy that handles grief with grace. Yes, it's obviously a very low budget film, and may be a bit lacking in its photography, but Hoffman brings an abundance of life to the film. He turns a good script into a great film. Great score. Essential viewing for every Hoffman fan.

Not enough from everything, was a bit disapointing. But Seymour shows his great potencial.

Actually very good movie what displays recently widowed mans mourning process. Makes you think, what to you do in his place. Hoffman did well but movie lacks of something

Tragic lovesong of the digital/machine-age suburbanite male. Moving portrayal by Hoffman. Killer indie soundtrack. The humor isn't anything special but does suit the mood and narrative trajectory well. A few really interesting shots, but otherwise pretty straightforward editing/composition.

Top badass moment? This is a film filled with flawed individuals where no one really 'rises to the challenge'. So instead I've decided that anyone who flies radio-controlled aeroplanes is badass. For a hobby that's easy for everyone else to ridicule, who hasn't secretly wanted to have a go at it anyway? Pursuing your interests when the rest of the world thinks you're just a stupid kid who won't grow up, is badass. It's just jealousy you know. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

A decent PSH performance in one incredibly misjudged and laughable film.

Harrowing movie about drug addiction and coping with loss. The Jim O'Rourke score is stirring and Louiso's long shot-dominated cinematography lingers on all the right moments. Still, the movie is almost uniformly depressing, even when it's funny. Although it deftly avoids predictability most of the time, it falls into that one trap that seems to get all drug movies: you can only watch a downhill slide for so long before you don't even want to look at the screen anymore.

"What with the incessant lounge music playing in the film's background, you may mistake Love Liza for an Adam Sandler Chanukah song." - Ed Gonzalez

This won a screenwriting prize at Sundance, one of those performances from Philip Seymour Hoffman that signalled that he was not your ordinary actor. A bit tough to sit through--he's miserable, grieving, self-destructive.

I'm a fan of Philip Seymour Hoffman, but this is an abomination, really...he gets addicted to huffing gasoline, are you kidding me? Other than the retarded premise, none of the other aspects of this movie are worthy of capturing any attention.

Unspectacular, but likeable. A film that is entirely built around Philip Seymour Hoffman, who is not really required to do anything spectacular here. Decent though.

So many people assured me I would like this, but I didn't. I like movies that most people would describe as "depressing" but this is something else. It is dark with no implication, let alone outright statement, that life can be good. Philip Seymour Hoffman & Kathy Bates are very good though, so it's not all bad.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays a widower to a wife who was much too hot for him. Despite the implausibility of him ever ending up with her most of the performances in this movie were top notch

I didn't find this bad. I got pretty involved with the plot and characters, even though not much really went on, I managed to hang in there. Great acting.

Jim O'Rourke will soon be remembered as one of the best composers of our time. His music fits the movie realy well here, and Hoffman's great acting drives the movie. It's short and a bit uneventful, but the ending sequence is very moving and brilliantly done.
