A cinebio que o Raoul Peck filmou sobre Lumumba em 2000 estaria fazendo vinte anos, mas como não tinha visto o documentário que a originou, eis me aqui. Confesso que só descobri Peck nos últimos anos com os lançamentos dos filmes sobre Baldwin e Marx, mas o diretor tá na luta desde os anos 80 e aqui ele faz um doc elegíaco sobre Lumumba em um período que o diretor também estava vivendo no Congo/Zaire nos anos 60. DVDRip MVGroup.

This one is not only a strong political documentary about a political leader and his situation in a post-colonial context, but also a film about the reality of narratives and about the discourses which function as a veil for the reality. And the Occident with its image-centered, narrative-based civilization is always the possessor of that veil. Nice deconstructive-reflexive movie which is both ethically strong and poetic.

An interesting combination of political biography, personal recollection and historical perspective. The film editing is a little loose, leaving some parts feeling out of place and tho whole feeling a bit undercooked, but there are a lot of moments that do a great job of providing a unique perspective on one instance of colonialism representative of many such instances around Africa.
