Lust in the Dust

All of the ingredients are there for a totally transgressive send up of the spaghetti western but we got Paul Bartel directing it. This should be great but it never gets good, never funny, never interesting - it's 80 of the longest minutes you could imagine. The only way this could've been salvaged was to put Paul Bartel in front of the camera as a slimy villain and his pal Mary Woronov, or pair Divine up with the Muppets.

There's very few funny moments, but it's weak compared to all that I expected from a Paul Bartel movie starring Divine.

It rubbed me the wrong way at the beginning with Divine...I just didn't find it funny at all. The plot picks up in the second half. Overused sound cue. I understand it's a satire of westerns but it's just not that funny to me. Fav scene: Marguerita's song number "South of My Border"

Paul Bartel's 1985 remake of 1952's "Duel in the sun" sees the reteaming of Tab Hunter and Divine from Polyester. this isn't anywhere near as good as Polyester though
