Black movies of the 30s offer the same things as the cheap white product of the time. Brainless crime drama with a few forgettable music numbers thrown in for a good time. Except casting mainly black actors in the roles and with even more dreadful dialogue! Oh God, was the verbal aspect of this painful! Oscar Micheaux might have made a few good pictures in the silent era, but for the first decade of sound his output seems to be dreadfully irrelevant on every aspect of film making.
