A decent and relatively engaging documentary. Lynch is a fascinating character, and this film doesn't really set out to get inside of his head, but to rather just observe him at work. It probably would have been more appealing to me if I'd seen Inland Empire beforehand, but it was still interesting to see his somewhat improvised creative process.

If you could somehow materialize Lynch's words into a plant and smoke it, it would be a ridiculously wild high. This gets close.

It's... ok. Nothing truly special though. It's not really exciting to see Lynch working on a movie that was essentially a 'make it up as you go' concept, especially with the documentary as fragmented as is, so there's no sense of progress being made. He has some nice stories and he's an interesting person for sure, but I was never really engaged.

Lynch is a fascinating character, and this doc accomplishes pretty much everything you would want. It gives you insight into his creative process, it's very entertaining (he's a funny guy), it makes you want to revisit all his movies, and it inspires your own creativity. I was particularly taken with how Lynch was both afraid and intrigued by his own methods. The director sometimes gets annoying with certain quirky tricks, but for the most part he manages to capture the spirit of David Lynch.

It's probably impossible to make a movie about what goes on inside Lynch's head, so this doc does the best it can: tries to improvise. Lynch smoking, CUT, Lynch on trascendental meditation, CUT, Lynch inside an abandoned Polish factory - you name it. It was actually really interesting to see how Inland Empire was made. So - yeah, definitely worth watching.

Wasn't nuts about the camera filters and digital whatnot, but Lynch is a great subject and I had fun watching him.
