Geist (the main character) is MD-02, a Most Dangerous Soldier, genetically engineered to function as a killing machine, but every one of the MDS units went homicidally insane. As a result Geist was placed in suspended animation in a stasis pod orbiting the planet Jerra until it crashed several years later, awakening him and bringing him into another war on the planet. Toxic, sub-literate cocktail of sex, violence and drugs. The animation is horrible. Also, the English dub is horrible.

People take this WAY to seriously. It's a b-movie in anime form and should be rated as such. It's got great designs, action, a kick ass soundtrack, and a main character that's pretty much the anime equivalent to a badass 80s action movie star. If you expect them to "illuminate the human condition" in a 40 minute 80s OVA, you're an idiot. It's fully enjoyable if you turn your brain off for 40 minutes and accept it for what it is.

Plenty of sex and gory violence (even just in the first 15 minutes) if you're into that sort of thing, but the usual curse of anime -- rampant juvenilia -- is especially bad here. The creators were far more interested in having "cool" characters and "cool" artwork and "cool" action scenes than in illuminating the human condition; as a story, this thing has no pulse. You just can't grow up reading the sf of (e.g.) C.M. Kornbluth and
