Awful yet hilarious "E.T." rip-off with aliens that look like ballsacks, an impromptu dance party at McDonald's, lots of Coca-Cola, and, of course, a kid in a wheelchair falling off a cliff. Transcendentally terrible.

The infamous McDonald's/Coca-Cola advertisement lazily disguised as a cheap "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial"(1982) rip-off, that accidentally became a "so-bad-it's-good" cult classic. Delightfully terrible, the movie is just full of bizarre choices, from the disturbing alien costumes to the wheelchair bound protagonist's notorious cliff-side plunge, the movie continually baffles audiences with the audacity of its product placement, to just its overall awfulness, making it practically a must see.

Oh my god, this is incredibly horrible in every way. I could feel my soul dying while watching this film, but then I drank a refreshing Coca-Cola and was instantly rejuvenated.

I worked at McDonald's for two years of high school, and I remember the pee incident in the ballpit and the PTA president throwing a box of McNuggets at me, but especially an alien walking around in a stuffed bear. He would sit motionless by the N64, and would only move while I was distracted fixing the ice cream machine. Whatever the cost, he must not make it to the Coca-Cola dispenser. The statue Ronald whispered there was death in his eyes. I saw pain. Mac and Me is my McED fever dream.

Take E.T. Add a wheelchair. Throw in more aliens. Take away quality from the puppets and special effects. Add cheesy humor. Remove the sense that at any point you are watching a good movie. What you now have is Mac and Me. Tastes bad doesn't it? Utter crapulence!

For those that always wondered what E.T. would be like if it was terrible. For those that remember the wheelchair scene; that is why this got a 20 and not a 0. Brilliant.

A valuable object lesson re: why product placement and movies shouldn't mix. So horrible it's kind of fascinating: best bit is the spontaneous dance number at McDonald's.

Immensely dire ET ripoff; the incredibly fake, unsettling alien is the first of its problems, but not the last. There's also the blatant product placement (McDonald's and Coca-Cola shame themselves, along with many others), the haphazard storytelling, the wooden acting (especially the children), the insane McDonald's dance party (where the alien shows his move), and the threat at the very end of a sequel, which never was. A disaster for the ages; an everlasting boon to bad-movie buffs.

Alternatively absurdly hilarious and boring, and stuffed with enough product placement to drive you mad. Everyone involved in the production must have been completely delusional.

I think I can say I've seen at least 50% of this movie via youtube clips titled the "worst movies of all time". Enough to realize that it is in fact one of the worst movies of all time.

Goebbels-esque in its design and contempt of the audience. Pure propaganda from our odious corporate overlords. The most nefarious thing about this films is the aliens can't live off water; they need Coke. Kids you should drink Coke; not water. Odious. Casting a real disabled child would be progressive if it weren't for the plethora of calculated moments revealing it is pure pandering. [MST3k: They let this drivel off easy. Surprised they let the Pepsi machine at the grocery go without comment.]

Not quite the crowning glory of Bad Moviedom that I'd heard it was, but still nice and awful. The product placement is the least of it; the characters are flat, the plot is barely developed beyond an outline, and that ending is just !?!? I'm glad they had some representation for disabled kids, and I can see a kid loving it because of that (or just because of the sheer number of weird things that happen in it), but I can see tons of kids being turned off by these flaws.

Yeah, this is bad. But, bad in such a unique way. There's, like, a five minute dance scene set in McDonald's. Every scene has a character drinking a Coke. The creatures are from a horror film. However, the scene Paul Rudd shares on Conan tops all of this.

This is a horrible ET knock off movie. The alien creatures look unpleasant and are bizarre. The script is horrible and the whole film is just a McDonald's and Coke commercial. None of the actors have any chemistry with each other. Overall this film is really awful.

People who say this is worse than E.T. are out of their minds. They are equally awful. Honestly, I don't understand how anyone can praise Spielberg's nonsense and pan this lop of shit at the same time since they're basically the same movie.

Presumably made to cash in on the long delayed video release of E.T. rather than the film itself, it fully deserves its reputation as a B-grade stinker of the highest order. It cost more to make than E.T. but looks far cheaper, and the aliens resemble blow up dolls.

Though panned as one of the worst movies ever made, I definitley disagree with that. Though it's a direct ET rip-off, the acting and dialogue is rough, it still has a charm to it.

Watched this because of Mystery Science Theatre 3000... which made it hilarious. I don't think I would have been able to get through even 10 minutes of this on its own. HOWEVER, I did appreciate the meme of the wheelchair kid rolling down off the cliff and into the ravine. LOLZ

Has to be my least favorite movie of all time. Not only is it painfully horrible all the way through, it also dared to be so ghastly while ripping off one of the (very few) absolute masterpieces of cinema. Shame on all people who participated in making this piece of junk.

BUY COCA-COLA So these aliens whose technological level has reached "use stick to prise grubs out of hole." and whose mode of communication is primitive gestures and whistling somehow become American citizens, wear clothes and learn to drive. Which means they now have to pay tax, get jobs and basically abide by the law and live as regular people. What !? They can't even fucking speak! BUY COCA-COLA Did I mention the horrible Coke product placement all the way through ?
