Macbeth

Shot in the Scottish Highlands in thunder, lightning and rain by Adam Arkapaw, this Macbeth deserves to stand with the fiercest film versions of the play, directed by Orson Welles and Roman Polanski. Kurzel, blowing away all traces of academic respectability, leaves you chilled to the bone and ready to run for your life.

Beautifully shot and faithful to the source material. Shame about the lite sexposition, however.

Even after studying Shakespeare multiple times I still struggle with his dialogue. And of course, during a film, you don't have footnotes you can glance at to work out what they are saying. So for me, I watched this film on a purely visceral level. My brain was rarely engaged, I just let the film's visuals and music just wash over me.

I wasn't a fan of the mumbled dialogue, combined with the way it was written (Shakespeare, obviously), I had trouble watching this. The best thing about this film are the exterior shots/scenes of the Scottish countryside, especially near the end.
