This is the best movie there is featuring monkey's fist kung fu. The forms are breathtaking. Lots of the jokes are actually funny (though a whole sequence based on mahjong puns seems lost in translation), the training sequences are long and punishing, and the fights are frequent and awesome. Liu's seriousness and incredible kung fu skills are nicely balanced by Ho's amazing acrobatics and silly poses. A must see.

I mean seriously a kung fu story with a feasible plot and reason to being. The characters had well developed personalities which added to the potential interest in this movie.

Another revenge-themed brawler from Hong-Kong. The text is the usual silly nonsense, but I guess we're watching this for the kung fu, and well - that's a mixed bag. The awesome acrobatic ability of the actors is evident throughout, but much of the choreography consists in such goofy slapstick as to leave the adult viewer annoyed. There's a greater degree of serious fighting toward the end, and all in all this is good entertainment.

The middle third relies a bit too much on less-than-stellar comedy antics, but the acrobatics on display, decent revenge story, cool training scenes and nice amount of fights more than make up for it.

This is no place to learn. Where then? The mountain! Classic kung-fu movie.

Both the main leads show great skill and Lieh Lo is always a fun villain. The only downside to this is that the story is too silly and comedic for too long to have the end fight be as gratifying as I'd have liked.
