Madame Bovary

Madame Bovary estreava há 90 anos em Paris. Cresci vendo a versão do Minnelli na TV, depois me apaixonei pelo do Chabrol/Huppert e só depois li o livro que se tornou um dos meus favoritos da ficção francesa. Fiquei bem decepcionada com esse do Renoir, acho que sua baixa acolhida o fizeram nunca ser restaurado pra blu-ray, embora o cineasta já tenha filmado grandes obras nesse período, infelizmente esse não se iguala a elas. Madame Bovary? What a stupid woman! I hated her. Both as a character and felt Jean Renoir picked the wrong lady for the role. Valentine Tessier just didn't look like someone all these men would desire. And I struggled to feel any interest for her too which hurt the movie as she was there all the time. After a series of quality films I felt Renoir was a bit off with this story. Not that Madame Bovary is a bad movie. It's just not up to the standard I've been spoiled with from this director.
