It's typical Hollywood turning the story into a romance and reordering events to heighten drama, but the lead performances are great and it makes for a compelling story, accuracy be damned.

Good acting, otherwise it is a forgettable biopic about one of the great women of history.

Classic Oscar bait! A very sophisticated biopic of a important historical figure which lacks that extra spark. Certainly respectable film. Focuses mainly on the relationship with her husband and fellow lab rat, for you can't have a Hollywood movie without the romance. What works for the film is the natural chemistry Greer Garson & Walter Pidgeon had together. There is nothing super dramatic about this picture, but the stiff sweetness those two had with each other made for a fine story.
