We need the people to know Harry isn’t gay, I don’t want him sucking back a hotdog I want him munching burgers and he will smooch two different ladies and have the sex with one. A mans gotta know his limitations. “What.”

An entertaining but inferior follow-up to Dirty Harry, some sloppy writing means that while there's more action on screen the film as a whole is never as fulfilling as its predecessor, with Clint's presence also dwindling somewhat as a result. He's still good mind, as is the direction, although it misses the cinematography from the first instalment.

I would say this is better than the original, that acting did take a step up from the first, however for the first hour it feels like all the events are fairly unrelated. It ties together well and has a decent ending. All together a pretty decent action flick.

A different kind of Dirty Harry. He cracks joke after joke, he has afro-American partner and doesn't mind it, he has sex with Asian girl and he fights vigilantes. I honestly didn't see any of that coming! Nevertheless, it's very entertaining 70's action flick. Just not as edgy and dark as original.

The idea of putting the rather extreme Harry Callahan against an even more extreme band of vigilante cops is a great idea and shows that there is a fine line between the two and it certainly isn't one Dirty Harry plans on crossing. Though I still prefer the original, this movie is still very entertaining and does a fine job of promoting Eastwood's manliness. And that is fine by me. The last Dirty Harry movie I've watched to completion, unfortunately.

All in all, I wasn't disappointed. The sequel to Dirty Harry is no lesser than its predecessor. I liked that they completely inverted Harry's role in this one, without changing his character much. He's still the "loose cannon" getting cheesy lectures from the boss about abiding by the rules, but he ends up playing on the other side of that court. Has its share of embarrassing dialogue, but otherwise it's a consistent, suspenseful action movie with no needless pretenses.

Superior to its predecessor in most ways. The stakes are heightened without blowing the reality out of the situation, and the acting is as a whole better. It still has major flaws in script but most of the previous installments problems have been fixed. Well done.

Viewed January 13, 2018. It's an interesting idea to make what is essentially an anti-Dirty Harry movie starring Dirty Harry, but I'm not sure that it ever quite comes off. It's a relentlessly mean film about softening edges. When Harry says that he hates the system but he'll stick with it until something better comes along, one has to wonder what the point of all of this is, anyway.

Magnum Force is a welcome return for the series, but surprisingly it has rogue elements which delve deeper into the underworld than you'd expect. Although all the Dirty Harry films are enjoyable, I'd say personally this just takes the edge over the original and is the peak of the series. There's chaos, plenty badass attitutde, angst and tension you'd expect from the films which seem to be always on edge.

The first sequel in the series has even more going for it than the original "Dirty Harry" two years prior simply because it has more plot and more action. The car chases are bigger, the shootouts are bloodier, and even Eastwood's skills and moral stance are put to the test. As a murder-mystery, the film works, and as another showcase for Clint Eastwood's signature character, "Magnum Force" is very entertaining.

Not quite as raw and visceral as the original, but it still has supercool Clint Eastwood icing bad guys (not to mention bedding babes ala James Bond this time around). The airplane misadventure is hilarious. I find it interesting that after accusations of the first film being right-wing, the villains in the second are fascist vigilantes, perhaps to "even things out" politically.

Magnum Force is a solid sequel with another memorable performance from Clint Eastwood. Eastwood's iconic persona is explored further and his morality is questioned more so than in the first film. Coming up against vigilante cops highlights the fine line dividing Harry and his enemies. And as a viewer you question if their motives are all that different. There's more humour, action, brutality and controversial themes present. And overall Magnum Force holds up well alongside the classic original.

Good cop action flick, impressive orchestral score by Lalo Schifrin. -- "There's no problem with shooting, as long as the right people get shot."

It's an interesting idea to have Harry defending the system this time but it's definitely less satisfying. So is the - again "interesting" - decision to have Harry do battle at the end w/out his gun. It's just not what we're here for. It's watchable but the script also has too many sophomoric elements: Harry's suddenly a Bond-like lady's man; the final dirty cop's ridiculously implausible reason to not kill Harry; & introducing 4 new cops who do so little, we can only assume they're killers

A good and entertaining follow up to the original Dirty Harry. Though though close-up shot of the magnum with Eastwood toting a few trade-mark lines was a tremendously foolish callback. Almost as if in response to criticism with the first film this sequel deals with and illustrates the problems with the first film. Where does the renegade cop for the force of good end and the vigilante murder begin? If you want more Harry Callahan this is worth seeing.

This was just about as good as Dirty Harry and in some regards better. People say that it isn't as dark as the original but in reality it is, maybe more so. It's actually incredibly brutal and gritty. All of the deaths are bloodier and more disturbing than the original (chick getting shot then falling out window, guy getting run over by Harry, all the closeups of people getting killed, etc.) Highly entertaining and well worth your time.

God, fascism requires a lot of jumping through hoops. I mean, the movie is almost as badass as the first one, but Milius (despite being only one of several writers, this is his diction. It's also his story) is trying really really hard to push his agenda and it's sort of adorable. Also, the gun fetishism is a little...um...well... Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Potent visuals give the supermarket shootout its proper ferocity, and the Milius-Cimino screenplay maps its incendiary themes in the marksman competition where Clint shoots a "good guy" police-officer pop-up board. Our hero, confronted with a blowup of his own reactionary attitudes, parallels James Stewart challenged by his ambitious young students in Rope.

As Harry fights a death squad formed within the SFPD -- and run by his boss --, Post does the minimum in order to follow Clint everywhere, but still crafting such a kick-ass 70s cop flick. The script by Milius and Cimino is also a highlight.

Solid as a sequel and I appreciated how they went for something different instead of rehashing the original. 1st half works well and I really liked the airplane scene, but as a whole it's way too long and could have easily lost 20mins. Ted Post is no Siegel and while the script by Milius/Cimino is interesting, it somehow makes the character of Dirty Harry less edgy or cool. Even the score is watered down. Worth a watch for fans of Eastwood or 70’s, but doesn’t come close to the original.

Top badass moment? Harry again getting away with pissing virtually everyone off whilst getting his man. This is a movie named after a gun that’s supposed to blow people’s heads off - but doesn't; it's also a contender for most obvious plot twist ever; and contains a boring sex scene that has nothing to do with the rest of the film, at all. Still, it's a shame the sequels are probably about Harry being interviewed by the Independent Office for Police Conduct. No cats, chainsaws, or decapitations.

The first Dirty Harry sequel is enjoyable enough in its own right for a large part thanks to Eastwood, but doesn't live up to the tightly paced, well directed thematic balancing act that was the first one. Thematically it is interesting, with Harry being up against cops that actually do murder people (yes this clearly was made trying to rebuff all the criticism on the first one that Harry is a fascist murdering cop), but the pacing is off and the directing very lacking compared to Siegel.

I'm amazed at how much better this is than Dirty Harry. The main man is just as cool as ever, but this film has more shocking moments, better action (the car chase at the end is great), less dumb plot points, sexier music, and the biggest difference is the villain -- the villain(s) here actually have menace to them, as well as some kind of philosophy they use to justify themselves, as opposed to the cringey OTT performance of the villain in the first film.

Enjoyable watch. Wish they hadn't included the last couple of minutes before the credits roll; kind of takes away from how nice the the other bits of the film were.

This is such a stupid movie, and I had a lot of fun watching it. It's a bit too long for its own good and there's no real surprise as to who the mystery killers are. Harry also gets entangled in random incidents that don't really serve the plot in any other way than showing how badass Dirty Harry is. The end sequence chases were the best part, amazing stunts. Ditching the lieutenant out of the car made me laugh out loud, as did the explosion at the end.
