Malaria

Pretty cool for what it is, a short little story with nice art and some creative spark, but there's not much underneath the visual gimmick.

At first I was disappointed with the visual style, how it is basically just a person moving a series of cards (like reading a comic book, basically). Only because it's a, you know, movie. But then it roped me in despite that, and all of a sudden I was like, "This is really fucking cool." I don't know if I've seen a movie like this to be honest, and the drawings are beautiful, the story is a tense Western and I love the music. It ends up all coming together well.

impressively drawn short about various things regarding death. currently sitting as my third favourite western, which i suppose says something about my feelings toward the genre.
