I know it's supposed to be loud and bossy, but it was hard to fall for any of these characters, especially Kirby's unsympathetic, unredeeming and surprisingly homophobic Angelo.

"Émile Gaudreault's comedy Mambo Italiano could have just as easily been called My Big Fat Gay Italian Wedding." - Ed Gonzalez

So I have to look to Canada for brisk, gay comedy that isn't embarrassing or obsessed with identity politics and is surprising at points? Fine. This situational comedy based in the Canadian-Italian community in Montreal made me laugh.

62 is a generous score, and that's for Paul Sorvino even though he doesn't give his best performance here. The description below really doesn't tell about this movie. It is a movie about tolerance, and it's not the best in the world.
