A rom-com that's actually funny, with sharp writing and a great cast. Thankfully, the "mistaken identity" gag isn't dragged out for the entire movie (as an American movie might have done), and the lead characters aren't the idiotic buffoons we typically see in this genre. Lots of fun.

Man Up is your run-of-the-mill rom-com; it has several funny moments, a few that fall flat (synchronised club dancing), but ultimately succeeds in getting you to root for the leads. Pegg and Lovibond do well in their roles, but it's Bell who really stood out with her Brit accent (which rivals Zellweger's Bridget Jones). Overall, it's cute, fun, benign, with a likeable cast, and includes 80's pop in its soundtrack.

Better than your average rom-com. Pegg and Bell are likeable leads and have some decent comedy to work with. The finale really falls apart by being too dramatic for the rest of the movie. Nonetheless, it's a solid pick if you're looking for something in the genre.

Ill-conceived in pretty much every way. The first half of the film features a date where she lies to him about everything and you're just waiting for him to find out. The introduction of a super-creepy blackmailer as the (comedic?) way to break the information is offputting. The second half is better, but then the ending is over-dramatic in a way that seems like they're mocking themselves. Pegg leads a party of drunken high-schoolers across suburbia in what is apparently a romantic gesture.

Had not enjoyed a rom com this much in a while. Fun, decent movie, good chemistry, good side characters and just fun.

Man Up (I) (2015), a rom-com starring Simon Pegg?! Oh, it was cute... and predictable. Absolutely nothing remarkably new from the sweet British dating scene, but if you're in the mood for this kind of thing, with two slightly ugly people, it's not a bad choice.

Most of the first half was simple (read stupid) sit-com/rom-com retread situations. It was after I'd just given it the "5 more minutes or I'm leaving" ultimatum, that it picked up--at least enough to sit it out. Saved it from being a 30 any way, that and Ophelia Lovibond (excellent work in "Elementary"), who is the spitting image of Barbra Feldon (60s Agent 99), but is apparently not related.

Completely formulaic from frame one, but Lake is cute and charming (as always), Pegg is immensely likable, and my wife ROARED at it and then got all sniffly at the end. It's a good date movie, is what I'm saying. Show it to your ladyfriend; she will likely be pleased.

Brings absolutely nothing new to the table, but doesn't fail either. Impressive accent by Bell, and a quite funny performance by Kinnear, even though he may overdid it at times. *Okay

I enjoyed the comedy and the charade that setup their romance. There was a certain awkward charm that felt authentic. Simon Pegg once again distinguishes himself as a likable character. Lake Bell's character was quirky, interesting, lovely & likable. Great chemistry. Many good humorous moments. The creepy Sean character was just awful. Near the end there was some chaos, but overall, it was humorous, interesting, fun to watch and ended on a happy note.

Average, generic romantic comedy. Not bad. Not good. Very middle-of-the-road.

This film surprised me. It was quite enjoyable and had some good laughs, whilst trying its best NOT to be a conventional rom-com. It had a slow start but Simon Pegg and Lake Bell were quite excellent, especially with Bell and her accent, I knew she wasn't British but I had to Google it to make sure. Pretty good pay off if you give it a chance.

"Man Up" is quite the groovy rom-com, thanks to a very good script and a fine protagonistic duo. Refreshingly humorous, consistent enough and with relatable, multi-dimensional characters, it's far from groundbreaking but righteously serves as a prime example of modern rom-com done right.

It's a good romantic comedy, but wouldn't watch it twice or go analysing it.

Tedious, predictable rom-com, only avoids the hate-rates 'cos Bell is adorable and gives good accent

Miscommunication is the reason why I tend to hate most rom-coms. Unfortunately, this film's whole plot is built around miscommunication, so I was definitely frustrated quite a few times. Luckily, this isn't an American rom-com, so the truth comes out far sooner than I was expecting, making it much more tolerable. Plus, I love Simon Pegg, and Lake Bell is a delight in this one as well, so that definitely helped. Overall pretty enjoyable, but probably not one that I'll rewatch often.

Occasionally elevates above run-of-the-mill, but generally a competent but unspectacular rom-com.

A -ve girl (who is a bit of a jerk) meets a +ve girl (who is a bit of a jerk) on a train and ends up accidently meeting her blind date (of course he is a jerk). Unsurprisingly they seem to get on great .. also unsurprisingly they meet a complete jerk and his ex-wife who soon put the kibosh on things. The jerk decides to cut his losses and meet his original "date", who is a real jerk. This makes him realise he likes the first jerk better, and goes to track her down, but he doesnt have her number.

This is definitely one of the above-avarage rom-coms out there. It might not be original and is full of clichés, but it does everything well. The leads are extremely likeable, the preformance from Bell and Pegg are great with them having an amazing chemistry. It's a fun British rom-com definitely worth a watch if you're looking for something in the genre.

Lake Bell is great in this film and Simon Pegg is good as always. The first two thirds of the film are really good. The script falters a bit in the final third of the movie. Overall I would recommend this film.

Slow start but a big pay off for a romantic comedy! Honestly, the whole slow start was waiting for Simon Pegg to enter the story! The moment Simon arrived it was non-stop great!

I've always liked Pegg & Bell so this was an easy watch. Didn't expect the full on British accent from the latter but she made it work. Above avg romcom w some sandpaper to it. The occasional overcheese decision but a solid entry to the genre (and now 8 yrs old). 6.6

Man Up contained great chemistry. The story was unique and provided a solid structure. I don't think Lake Bell has an authentic British accent, and thinking it was fake kept taking me out of the movie. There weren't enough jokes written in to pull it all together so it fell flat. I think the script should have been run by someone with a better sense of humor to make it a stronger film.

It started out promising and then it kinda fell a little of the rail. Definitely had some good moments, and I liked the quirkyness. *Okay
