Had the movie gone into a little more detail, this would be a must see. But it's very close. The interview with the kidnapper is a highlight.

It doesn't didactically connect the dots for you. So, on first viewing, it may be a little perplexing. On a second viewing, though, it is very tight and clever and rich in symbolism. And despite all the chuckling from most interviewees, the film is depressing as hell for any Brazilian who's not a corrupt politician.

Shows the economic benefit of having an appalling national crime record, society concedes that this behaviour is a constant and businesses/ industries begin to adapt and provide solutions particular to the most practiced transgressions, or even, make documentaries about them. I did enjoy the gentle probing question to Jader (also Jaderland, geez) about the frog farm, rather than an amateur frontal assault. Do yourself a favour & lend Kohn your ears.

Possibly the most stylish documentary I've ever seen.

Well-made but shallow documentary. Would have preferred it if the film addressed more of the "why's" of corruption and kidnapping rather than a few isolated "how's." Watch City of God and Bus 174 instead, and save yourself a little time.
