Frances O'Conner was absolutely wonderful in this. The movie is witty, charming and delightful. Excellent performances throughout. Despite the stodgy 18th century sensibilities, the story is thoughtful and well written. A portrait of an incredible young woman who is as creative and intelligent as she is beautiful.

A bit smutty compared to the other Jane Austin movies on the market, but entertaining.

I gave it a 75/100 only comparing it to the terrible 2007 version with Billy Piper. At least, this version was quite more likeable, with vintage-y costumes, nice actors and characters which make you feel connected to them, unlike the 2007 version which was an atrocity.

MP is the one and only JA novel I've read, my teacher trying -in vain- to defend the repulsive, priggish main character to the class still makes me smile. Of course they'd never build a movie around a character like that, and here they haven't. This is no adaptation, just another tedious costumed romance.

A rather engaging movie with over educated dialogue by some beautiful people in sumptuous costumes. The multi faceted characters create shifting sympathies, which is quite interesting.

Not a standout in its genre but still a commendable film. Jonny Lee Miller wasn't half bad! Just wish they didn't do the whole talking to the camera thing.

There are two types of people in this movie the stupids and the gritty dark stupids, they remove personality and replace it with blah, and since Hollywood seems to think shy people aren't interesting goodbye Fanny Price hello What's-her-bucket snarky flip-flop we've seen a million times. If they weren't interested in the characters Jane Austen created why did they decide to make this movie at all? Her stories are all about the people not the environment. I hate this film and all it's characters.

There is a weirdly quirky quality to this film that I didn't really like and I wasn't a fan of the 4th wall-breaking scenes. Frances O'Connor does a great job in the role even if this Fanny is nothing at all like the one in the novel. The entire tone of the film is much different than the book and while some of it really works well other parts feel very jarring and fall flat. The part of the film I disliked the most was the camerawork which I felt distracted rather than enhanced the film.
