Mardi Gras Massacre

This has Herschell Gordon Lewis levels of charm but that's about all it has going for it.

Should really be a big fat ZERO, but it's so bad that it makes a great midnite movie.

By all accounts not very good, but it's actually got a few things going for it. The big pluses are the wingman cop who really should've been the hero, the surprisingly gory kill sequences, & the absolutely hysterical line "I could win first prize in any evil contest." There's also a flamboyant black man in this who's treated like a normal human being, which is cool. Still, the deaths are basically the same scene over & over & the pacing is all kinds of off. The ending is pretty meh, too.

I'm not going to pretend that this is exactly a good movie. It's super cheap and the acting is terrible, and the folks involved don't seem to know exactly what they are doing ... the lighting is awful, the sets are flimsy and actors can be seen reading straight from the script. This film has character ... even if it's mostly weird and sleazy. It exists pretty much just to deliver nudity and gore and it does that, if not artfully, with a minimum amount of imagination.

Fascinatingly inept and artless, almost Brechtian, but let's not be silly here, it's mostly just a super cheap horror movie.
