Super silly songwriters spoof, but it had the right guys for it. Any film where you have Allen Jenkins, Edgar Kennedy & Mischa Auer mocking about, is a sure giggler. And just as an example of how serious this picture took itself, it ended with a Andy Devine cameo invading the music room shooting guns as if he was in the wild west, saying "Excuse me, I guess I'm in the wrong picture". That's exactly the knucklehead I imagine him being in real life.
