Mariupolis

A film like Mariupolis requires - no, necessitates - a deeply human perspective to communicate its cause and relevance. But Mariupolis keeps all of its subjects more than even an arm's length away. There are hardly any faces, and no true main characters to ground us. Feeling is dashed, and this is unacceptable, given what I think it depicts at the end. The current Ukrainian situation is ripe for a good doc, but for now, this is not it.
