Maruta 2: Laboratory of the Devil

This tries to be shocking but mostly fails. Some of the effects were pretty good and the story isn't terrible but it wasn't well told either.

By round two, HK exploitation had gained some popular ground. The original movie was an attempt to bring light to terrible events in Chinese history and make social commentary, albeit with a minuscule budget, the sequel is purely exploitation in both gore and of the name, but still with a low budget. Whole swathes of this movie are direct rip-offs of the original. It's a bastardization of an already bad movie, made with impure intentions. A distillation of all the bad aspects of exploitation.
