Master of the Flying Guillotine

Capcom owes somebody serious royalties.

Something so intrinsically "bad" has never been as immensely watchable. It deftly walks this insane balance between surreal fantasy boxing antics and glorious 'realism' of stunts and kung fu action. Extra props for stealing music from Kraftwerk without asking, and inventing the whole punk-kung-fu intense aesthetic by accident.

The soundtrack includes Neu!, Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream; I could never imagine those songs in a kung fu movie... and it works very well!

Some good fight choreography.

Maybe it's trying to say something about the nature of "an eye for an eye"..who knows. I also gave up trying to figure out the alliances. But the fight scens are excellent and the characters are entertaining. A hell of a fun movie

There's literally no part of this movie that's bad. Awesome kung-fu, awesome Dhalsim, awesome guillotine, awesome chop-socky effects, awesome "defeating a muy thai master via wearing shoes"

This film features one of the best villains in any martial arts film..a psychopathic killer who wields a gimmick guillotine that lops off heads. The movie has plenty of mystical Kung Fu and lots of absurd dialog and a badass soundtrack. Highly recommended for fans of the genre.

This move has had a huge influence on many modern video games and films (the Street Fighter video game, the Kill Bill films). If you love kung-fu movies see this.

I'm not a huge kung-fu movie fan to be honest. It was entertaining; I liked the tournament fights. But the ending fight was quite long and not that exciting. Also, I have to say this, those sound effects get kind of ridiculous. I know that's common in a kung-fu movie but it kinda gets over the top. Gotta say this, one guy literally has balls of steel

This Kung Fu movie has just a little too much hokey nonsense. It has a couple decent fights but you have to wade though a lot of bad match ups. The contests to the death were terrible. Awful soundtrack. I laughed good when the one armed boxer walked on the ceiling. The so called deadly flying guillotine was possibly the most asinine martial arts weapon ever devised. Somehow I watched to the ending credits. Typical for the genre in those years.

There are a lot of creative and entertaining fights. Some of the characters are insanely amusing (as much as loved the stretchy arm yoga fighter, I have to say the sneaky fighter's hilarious name tickled me the most). The story is kind of all over the place (e.g. I'm not sure how the three minions fit in with the guillotine master), so it's best to just forget the plot and watch the colorful characters fight. The groovy 70s soundtrack is also a lot of fun.

I will never look at fighting games the same way again.

aka One Armed Boxer 2, this is Jimmy Wang Yu's best movie, featuring a fantastic tournament and some inventive kung fu traps!

Hmmm, I wonder why they call him 'Master of the Flying Guillotine'. I mean, he doesn't look that intim... OOOOOH #$@&%!!!

This film is so much fun and it has to be where some of the characters from Street Fighter II came from.

The only real strength here are the unique gimmicks of each fighter. The fighting itself... eh. And never mind the story.

Though the first scene featuring the introduction of the titular master is amazing, the rest of the movie is pretty boring, and I didn't think the fighting was anything special at all.

It's like a martial arts B feature, sometimes absurdly well-done and funny. The story, if there is any, is totally driven by the action scenes. This is kung fu craziness, about a psycho guillotine blind old master seeking revenge for the death of his two disciples by one of the one hand boxers, at its best.

One of the best kung-fu films I've ever seen. It fully delivers on its premise and defines all of the conventions people associate with the genre. It kicks ass.

Midway through I thought to myself, 'holy shit, this is a martials arts horror-comedy,' and that in and of itself is cool.

The most action-packed kung fu movie I've ever seen. Colorful characters, some clever battles and a nice heap of delightful martial arts crazyness. A guy walks on walls! An old man gets punched through a roof! Extendable arms! Thoroughly entertaining.

The fighting is the only good part of the movie, though the sound effects, which are extreme even for a kung-fu movie, practically ruined it. The master of the flying guillotine wears a swastika, the plot is almost nonexistent, and it's just boring.

It's about fighting, and there plenty of it. It's also a thoroughly racist picture, as all the non-Han characters are complete scoundrels, but really, it's about fighting.

Pulpy and somewhat over-the-top martial arts movie from a time when that was still fresh and exciting, set to a Kraut-rock soundtrack. The protagonist, the one-armed boxer from a previous film, is the least extraordinary character in this one: Besides the "flying guillotine" man there's an Indian yogi with extendable arms, a Thai kicker and a tonfa-donning Okinawan. A lengthy tournament sequence which I wished would last longer had a diverse host of other colorful fighters.

Fantastically over the top kung fu flick with great villains with outlandish moves.

Deliciously trashy and fun to watch. I love the stolen music used in the film.
