Jesus, Ishiro Honda is amazing at shooting indoor scenes that remind you that the characters are in a big city. Weird takeaway for a movie about mushroom people attacking Gilligan and the Skipper.

A lot more interesting than I was expecting. Generally creepy and good atmosphere, even if half the horror is just people breaking down in a stressful situation.

Don't go into this expecting a typical monster movie, because there's not much of it here. The bulk of it explores the dynamic among the characters, how greed and desperation turns them against each other. There's a little hammy bit at the end where the situation is compared to modern civilized society. There's other minor thematic pieces as well but they're not delved into too deeply. The monsters are pretty creepy when you finally see them, and the set design is done really well.

Essentially a mixture of Japanese Valhalla Rising and Scooby-Doo.

A mix between Scooby Doo and Gilligan's Island with a healthy dose of psychedelia topped off with a strange fungi endemic. Sorry for the phrasing, I have a menu test in a few days. Anyway, I thought this was gonna be so bad it's good, but in reality it's actually good 'ol fashioned good, and not really bad at all! Silly, to be sure, but there are moments when the atmosphere is fairly disturbing (and bleak). I should watch more Ishiro Honda flicks.

This is not a D class horror movie you would expect looking at its cover. It is a genetic mutation of Lord of the Rings, Robinson Cruzoe and Night of the Living Dead, done by a probable grandfather of a Funky Forest's director.

It's not really a monster movie, more of a psychological drama. You can see where Gilligan's Island got its inspiration.

Is it Gilligan's Island meets Lord of the Flies, or is it an overly-long "Just Say No" message? As a monster movie, it's pretty disappointing, as the "monsters" (admittedly with an impressive look) really start to appear only fifteen or so minutes before the end. But it works well as a psychological drama, as the selfishness of most of the characters moves the plot along.
