In this modest but well-wrought occult horror film, Susan Farrell (Bobbie Bresee) innocently visits her family's mausoleum at the age of 10, and, due to an ancient curse on the first-born in her family, is possessed by a blood-thirsty demon. The demon does not manifest until two decades later, when Susan begins to dispatch one victim after another -- from the gardener to the delivery boy. The maid Elsie (La Wanda Page) has some well-placed, down-to-earth comments on the weird and murderous ambien (Allmovie.com)

One of the first movies where I couldn't tell if the shots were actually inspired or if they just had a really good set designer. There's one magnificent shot from inside the mansion looking out through the front door on what I imagine is the majesty of Ventura, CA. It's the kind of movie that makes you question your own sanity because you wish there was a commentary track.

This is one stupid movie. We're talking driving drunk with your bare ass on the steering wheel-STUPID. And of course, therein lies the fun. When I first heard of The Room I figured it was a horror movie and Mausoleum was pretty much what I pictured in my head. Needless to say, this isn't quite as gloriously misguided and insane as The Room but it's a very fine example of so-bad-it's-good cinema.

Looking at the poster art knowing it won’t even come close to being good. If the colours on screen are not garish or the lady isn’t doing the Michael Jackson Thriller eyes - fast forward this shit. There is a black maid character straight from a totally different kind of movie, she just leaves the movie the moment she catches wind of the nonsense and I kinda wish I followed.

Goofy, violent, and oddly entertaining in that 70s/80s demon movie type way.

An exercise in weird B-movie schlock, this unfortunately offers more groan-inducing moments than kookie charm. Packed with plenty of gratuitous nudity from its lead, underwhelming performances across the board, a half-baked plot that never quite makes sense, a bland cast of characters, & special effects that range from iffy to laughably bad, its only real strength is in its fairly solid practical effects. This is on the worse side of early-80's horror, and is only worth seeing for hardcore fans.

I felt like this could have been a genre gem, but it lost quite a lot of steam towards the end and turned to a standard possession flick. Visually it's quite interesting with colourful sets and green glowing eyes. There's a lot of nudity and gore; it actually felt more like an Italian genre film with a dream logic than it's American peers. Reading some comments after the film, I was not the only one who saw some similarities between Bobbie Bresee's role and Laura Palmer.

A great poster, great make-up effects, and a dumb movie. I think it is a lot of fun, but I understand none of it makes any sense. Bobbie Bresee uses her green glowing eyes and numerous topless scenes to wreak havoc on all bystanders.
