Max Manus

A solid wartime drama with some decent action scenes. Aksel Hennie proved very convincing in the title role. More succesful at presenting the occupated world of the resistance fighters than the similar, Danish 'Flammen & Citronen'.

I enjoyed this more than I expected but it lacked some depth with the script. Manus' rise to fame was not explained really well and how he became one of the biggest threats I don't think was established really well. Other than that I enjoyed the movie and was really nervous during the sabotage seens as I had no idea if any of them succeeded or whom made it our alive, so a good watch but nothing too amazing.

Nice realistic war movie. Good acting.

Great movie. If you like Soldier of Orange, you'll like this one too.

Feels like a long trailer (the visuals scream "commercial"). It's about restistance soldier in Norway in WWII, but it's just bullshit, never interested in problematizing the "heroic acts" and only concerned in seducing the viewer.

Unfortunately, the very poor research on how to wear British gas mask bags raises doubts on the accuracy of all other aspects of this film. A quick look on the internet would have shown them how its done.

A resistance movie scaled to be an entertainment foremost, so you pretty much know what you're gonna get. Still, these directors have a talent for striking images and tight scene construction that's undeniable.

The scope is bigger and better than 'Flame & Citron' but the killings are less stylish. They both share a boring love story.

Max Manus is essentially another helping of undistinguished Hollywood-style mythmaking, with period recreation too lavish and polished to create a real past, but the action is refreshing, and it effectively portrays the obsessive nature and ultimate emptiness of combat.
