Matias Caruso penned the script, which tells the story of a virus that infects a corporate law office on the day attorney Derek Saunders (Yeun) is framed by a co-worker and wrongfully fired. The infection is capable of making people act out their wildest impulses. Trapped in the quarantined building, our hero is forced to savagely fight tooth and nail for not only his job but his life. It's not memorable, it's not particularly good or fresh either. If a "Day of the Dead", "Scott Pilgrim" crossover featuring b-list actors sounds like a good time to you, then have a ball. I'm not above cut rate movies, or b-list actors, personally, but this one is a little too generic to have that much fun with.

A high octane roller-coaster that only goes up. Don't dwell too much on the how the disease actually works, how it's transmitted, or how an antidote piped into the building works to alleviate symptoms in all occupants exactly 8 hours after admission. No, just sit back and soak in the 90 minutes of office space cocaine-fueled ass-kicking/farking in Murphy Brown's legal eagle nidifice. Tl;dr - Think of it as Battle Royale if people weren't required to kill everyone, but they do anyway.

So close to being awesome. It aims for the right tone which makes for a more enjoyable watch when compared to the similar Belko Experiment, The soundtrack is inconsistently cool, the action is too sparse and slow to be as exciting or thrilling as the concept demands, and some of the side acting could certainly be better. The film feels held back by its budget. The infection rules are pretty inconsistent too, why the hell would the secretaries and security guards still be following orders?

While sufficiently bloody, the light ultra-stylized violent fun of this action/horror/comedy is far from the gorefest the premise would lead one to expect. Although, this may have been more the product of the movie's limited budget, instead of the film's campier tone. However, the virus' effects are generally super plot convenient, which can be irksome, but still the movie offers a decent amount of playful carnage for you to lazily enjoy one day on cable, or streaming, or whatever kids do now.

Mayhem is far from the most logical or clever film of the dark comedy sub-genre, as you could even say it’s bites on a very similar movie in “The Belko Experiment” with some of it’s elements. However, this movie has the right blend of tone and atmosphere to make it a fun time. It has a lot of relatable underlying tones that I feel a lot of us have had, and who is to say if something like this happened, it couldn’t happen? Props to Yeun & Weaving for carrying this smaller film too.

The acting and action is pretty good. I have problems with the movie, but they're things I've come to overlook to enjoy movies more.

As the "normal" office is actually an ultra-stylized hellscape to begin with, when shit hits the fan things don't quite pop as they would have some some early restraint. Wondering how the virus works? Don't, as it doesn't really matter nor make much sense. Still, the bouts of violence are pulpy fun and I will never tire of a blood-soaked Samara Weaving cackling.

A fun premise let down by execution. As a mix of Office Space and Battle Royale it fails by lacking the sharp satire of the former and the all-out ultraviolence of the latter. It's very close to being a great B-movie and the leads do a solid job, but it lacks that certain something needed to become the cult classic it clearly wants to be.

With all the mayhem and the outrageous plot this movie was surprisingly dull. This tries to be Fight Club, American Psycho, or Boondock Saints and just like two out of the three of those I found that the style just doesn't work for me.

I’ll give ’em credit: they make it stylish (e.g., the early cupboard-door cuts). But they fail to bring the style into its choreography, which would have elevated it as far as its early-naughts misogyny would have allowed (the film is from 2017).

Mayhem doesn't go far enough in any direction to be great, but it is a fun, blood-soaked romp with some anti-establishment thoughts on its mind.

bir aksiyon komedi olarak ne aksiyonu ne komedisi ne de kalkıştığı satirin işliyor olması mı yoksa baştan sona izlemiş olmam mı daha şaşırtıcı karar veremiyorum.

Anchored by two great performances from Yeun & Weaving, who's awesomely badass in her role, it features a lot of gore & a lot of sleek production value. The story, however, leaves a little to be desired. While it definitely gets better as it goes along, there are some holes in the plot that never really get addressed & some of the character development feels really rushed. Still, it's fun for what it is & has a mostly clever script behind it, & it's worth a look for the leads alone.

Mayhem will likely be appreciated by the same people who enjoy movies like Crank. It's an action-comedy that sustains a very high level of momentum for the majority of its running time, doesn't give you too much to its characters, and provides a little bit of social commentary on top of its over-the-top action. Is it fun? Yeah, it's fun. And it's smarter than it probably needed to be. It's good fun, offers a bit of catharsis, and ends before it wears out its welcome.

After getting fucked over by his company, a virus that lowers moral threshholds helps Derek decide that it is only appropriate to murder his boss. The movie then goes into a biting spiral of office drone on office drone violence while still being extremely funny. The themes are far from revolutionary but the execution (haha) is on point!

Let's get this out of the way first. I really liked Steven Yeun on "The Walking Dead" and I really liked Samara Weaving in "The Babysitter" With that being said....they have awful chemistry here and the acting is sub par. Interesting idea, but the execution of it all is so hokey, it just comes off as amateur hour as everything seems forced.

This movie is surprisingly entertaining. Unlike the Belko Experiment which felt rather flat and pointlessly gory, here there actually is such a thing as meaning and a decent story line. And, while one certainly shouldn't act out urges as they are depicted here, it certainly is a good reminder to make a difference for the better where we can, both in our lives and in the ones of others.

Mayhem was kind of like Everly but this time the lead was Steven Yeun and Samara Weaving a sidekick. The prelude was better achieved than the actual action. And they should stick with a nail gun.

Had lots of fun with this one, and I was happy they didn't go overboard with gore.
