A must see Islandic mystic crime story. The aerial view of Reykjavik was breathtaking. The choire music was very original choice. Nothing is worse than the death of own child. Investigations dug out secrets hidden behind genes. Our future lays on our kids, but are they who we want them to be?

Very atmospheric Icelandic film with dark, rich cinematography. It reminded me a lot of the Norwegian film, "Insomnia". However, the storyline is murky, hard to follow and, ultimately, unredeeming, not to mention depressing. It was also hard to care much about the characters. I will say that the soundtrack is amazing if a bit mismatched - very mystical/ethereal-sounding - and the film does deserve a few points for originality.

A standard TV-style murder mystery is livened up by some bleak Scandinavian humor and scenery. Also, takeaway sheep's head!

An Icelandic version of Frost. Some comedic moments sit uncomfortably with the overall seriousness.

With basic police work the case could have been solved in the first ten minutes (blood on the broken glass and fingerprints on the ashtray). They even said at the beginning, about the murder, "messy and pointless with no attempt to conceal the evidence". But, yet, they don't even look at the basic evidence. Overlooking that, it was pretty decent.

Not really something I'd watch again, but a very complete murder mystery. A little slow and mundane and the film has a really weird grain which is distracting (and I can't decide whether it was intentional or not either).

Twisty Icelandic who dunnit added extra flavour by its unusual setting (stark, bleak landscapes) and culture ( takeaway sheep's head !). Unusual context is let down by an overly familiar core plot.

It's a nicely taut, dark little crime film. That's about it. To be honest if this wasn't made in Iceland I doubt I would have ever watched it.

"Reconfiguring the objectives of a standard murder mystery requires more than these stock character studies of wounded daddies, which exude sham profundity via a high-toned grim realism." - Nick Schager

so what if the majority of the reason i liked it so much was because it was icelandic?
