Hypnotic and horrifying as we watch the animals go from living creatures to being mechanically broken down into their most base parts until finally we end with the image of ground beef being strewn together, completely unrecognizable from the cows we saw just an hour before.

A weaker work by Wiseman because he should have concentrated on one area of the subject, either the slaughterhouses or the selling of the meat, a lot more. The slaughterhouse footage by itself would have been a masterpiece however, both unsettling even for meat eaters and yet absolutely fascinating, showing a part of life rarely seen and allowing one to think about the issue, which a film like Fast Food Nation fails at, while staying neutral.
