Two kids (one obsessed with vehicles and explosions, the other into extravagant costume design and glitter) are playing with their GI Joes while making up a story together that fits both their interests. Dad, a movie producer down on his luck, overhears this as he refills his glass for the 6th time that afternoon. "This.. this might be crazy enough to work!" he mumbles. He was wrong.

Probably one of the most 80's films you can possibly watch. This is both good depending on your perspective. The soundtrack is bizarrely good in places and yet horrendous in others. The story itself is absolutely ridiculous as well as the art direction and special effects. However this ads to it's charm as a horrendously dated and thus horrendously unintentionally hilarious film.

The torrent of cheesiness and unintentional humor make this film stand the test of time in a way that Needham never would have intended. Everyone should watch this for Bostwick's hairy-chested, spandex-costumed presence (at one point he rides a flying motorcycle like a unicorn) and Henry Silva as a perpetually-exasperated antagonist who almost nudges the fourth wall with his incredulity at all the silliness that he fights and puts up with.

Stuntman turned director Hal Needham's ridiculous 80's mega flop is a cheesy action mess. Most of the story featured in the movie feels totally inapplicable to anything that's going on, and it's dumb. The movie has "Fast and the Furious" levels of over-the-top stupid action that was dipped in a vat of 80's cheese to make a thumb kissing fun bad movie.

Another day at the office for Cannon Films results in this wildly uneven "boys toys" action movie. The movie actually has a lot of very funny and likeable scenes, whether it's Barry Bostwick's lycra bodysuits, Persis Khambatta's training montage, or the quips and silly facial expressions of the team. Sadly the real let down is the action parts, which are long, noisy, badly edited, and more irritating than entertaining. Half cheese, half deafening explosions, see it when you're in the right mood.

This is the type of nonsense that is half-enjoyable/half-boring.

I'm not quite sure what the story was or if anything was accomplished. The thumb-kisses were weird and disturbing.

Cheesy, hilarious and very 80s with an ending featuring a rockin' song by a band that could have so easily been Journey.

Starts to wear out its welcome at around the halfway point, but trust me, stick it out to the end.
