Mektoub, My Love: Canto Uno

Simple, but extremely colorful and vibrant summer movie. Everyone is so beautiful, happy and full of life that it's a joy just to observe these people interact. The only complaint is that there's no real reason for the movie to be so long. Besides that, it's a very solid and pleasant summer flick with just enough drama for it to be not bland.

Rambling, plotless depiction of what amounts to a pleasant summer holiday is hampered initially by an uncomfortable leery presence behind the camera (no cleavage shot is unmissed) but once this settles down, Kechiche successfully manages to capture the loose and fun atmosphere of his characters lives and creates a warm and enjoyable community to mosey around in for three hours (in a "I read Playboy for the interviews" kind of way!) Caveats aside, beautifully shot and well-served by its cast.

3 hours of young girl buttocks, lesbian kisses and other Kechiche's fantasies and beliefs. And in the middle of that macho paradise - a birth of a lamb on Mozart's air ! (also - The way they speak, the facial expressions... were so forced and systematic (same smile, same speech, density....) so the natural that Kechiche may looking for seemed all but natural.....)
