I really wish i could see a better copy of this, because it seems like it could be one of Ruiz' most beautiful films under ideal circumstances. Also the subpar quality available makes the already barely-coherent (in typical Ruiz fashion) narrative even harder to follow. Still, it's nothing if not a quintessential example of his style, although that said if you've seen City of Pirates and/or On Top of the Whale you've basically already seen what's on display here, for better or worse.
