I've enjoyed the previous films written and directed by Anders Thomas Jensen, but I'm still not sure what to make of this. It's easily his weirdest one, and probably too weird for it's own good. You can see it as e.g. a riff on Dr. Moreau, a story about family and life - or as a big inside joke. Still, good to see that Mikkelsen & co. are still working on Danish productions even when they are making bigger films across the pond. Their participation was probably crucial in this becoming reality.

Not so good but just sick and funny enough to be rated rather high.

The pacing is a bit slow in the second half, but this is a small detail in an otherwise wonderfully weird film. The comedic timing is spot on and even though you can see the ending coming from a mile away you can't anticipate any of the laughs that precede it.

I really liked the concept and most of the plot-points, but Men & Chicken remained a frustrating watch for 2 main reasons. First, despite the subtitles I found the Danish language difficult to connect to, losing much of the nuance. Second, and more importantly, I found the film (especially the 1st act) to be too slowly paced and a bit bleak at times. I look forward to an English remake.

All the "men" in the movie spend the whole time trying to get laid, and what do "chickens" do with eggs? Huh? Huh? See what I'm saying? This movie is so clever.

not particularly funny look at 5 seriously weird brothers (well 4 plus 1 who keeps it together). A plot twist as to their true heritage you can spot a mile off with an eye closed

Engaging, plenty funny black comedy that could use a couple less rape and bestiality jokes, even considering the nature of the story.

The off-putting characters and the twisted sense of humor didn't work for me all of the time, but often enough. It was delightful to see Mads Mikkelsen play a blithering idiot instead of one of his stoic roles.

Two brothers, one a nebbish (David Dencik) and one a gross lecher (Mads Mikkelsen), learn that they were adopted and set out to find their biological father, in the process becoming involved in the lives of their three eccentric half-brothers and discovering the truth about their genetic heritage. Decidedly Danish comedy, with some funny moments and impressive sets and makeup marred by the rather flat direction and overly cruel tone. Amusing enough if you know it's your thing.

Grotesque black comedy from Denmark! I can promise you you've never seen Mads Mikkelsen like this before! Mænd & høns (2015) is brilliant on so many levels! Retarded brothers united, living a very alternative lifestyle of chickenfucking and taxidermy violence. I can't pinpoint what exactly keeps me from totally loving this, maybe it's too freaky, but I was laughing my way through the sickness of this insanity!
