Laura is a nurse at the Front in World War I. She meets and falls for a young flyer named Geoffrey. On his first mission, Geoffrey is shot down and taken to the hospital where Laura works. Within days he succumbes to his injuries. Faced with the fact that she is with Geoffrey's child, she accepts the proposal of Ed Seward who still wants to marry her. Laura vowes that her new son will never fight in a war again. (imdb)

The most impressive about this 1933 film is it's predictions! Sure, the world was already feeling the bubbling political turbulence from all over, but to be this accurate is almost creepy. The effects when the enemy 'Pearl Harbored' New York was well done. They even had fancy television phones in this! The acting was of the serious kind. Both Diana Wynyard and Phillips Holmes give a multi-layered performance not many could have done in the same manner.
