Viewed August 10, 2021. Estevez seems to be going for the same kind of quirky, blue collar punk, southern California vibe of Repo Man (his character even has a Circle Jerks sticker prominently displayed in his locker), but the script is significantly less funny and weird and he doesn't have the directorial chops to pull off the unusual tone.

Audacious in its amiableness. I couldn't believe this got made at the time.

A funny [but totally improbable] movie. If you can't laugh at this farce, you need a mental health check-up.

Incredibly stupid film, but damned if it isn't entertaining for some reason.

An airbag full of feces is always good for a laugh...unfortunately, it only happens once in this film.

I'm pretty sure I saw this movie by accident and I'm pretty sure I didn't like it.

Utterly stupid, but a guilty pleasure. It gets point for Keith David, upon seeing a dead white guy in a trash can, says "Oh look, somebody threw away a perfectly good white-boy!". That has to be worth something! :)

I imagine this is the sort of thing that you can only appreciate if watched in the early 90s, post 2010 it's bland and completely uninteresting

You have to really like brothers Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez to get into this flick.

Yes this is a goofy and silly movie, but it has great one liners, plenty of hilarious moments and its heart is in the right place.

Honestly, I think it's a hoot. I find the humor cheap, yet not completely tasteless, and somewhat charming. The plot is pointless and insane, but the movie succeeds in being a whole lot of dumb fun. Meh!

Not without its laughs, but soon devolves into standard thriller stuff and loses its identity.

Sheen and Estevez are entertaining on screen together, but M.A.W was a wasted opportunity. The premise of young garbage men who get ensnared in a murder plot involving a local government official isn't a bad one--films with garbage men as heroic progatonists are regrettably rare--but Estevez's script quickly devolves into routine, and his direction is sluggish, which saps the energy out of the action oriented finale. David is a riot as an unhinged war vet though and there are some good scenes.

Your milage will vary depending on how much you like the Sheen/Estevez dynamic. The screenplay is a major let down. The jokes don't really hit hard enough and a lot of the characters are underdeveloped. Fortunately things get more interesting once the crazy crime/action elements escalate, but then the movie decides to circle back around to the comedy, ending on some very cheap tonally awkward slapstick jokes. In the end it manages to be somewhat likable even if it's not very good overall.

Six years after his iconic and classic film about odd-jobbed guys searching for a glowing trunk, Emilio Estevez does something very similar with his insufferable brother. What is lost is the humor and the willingness to go dark. On top of it all, Men at Work contains some of the worst written and acted villains I've ever seen

In which Estevez mixes two past successes (Repo Man, Stakeout) with some others (Rear Window, Weekend at Bernie's) into the blandest of vanilla mashes. The only colour is provided by Leslie Hope's pink suit and Keith David. (You know what I mean. [Don't you?]) The rest is stuff like the villain going "FIND IT FIND IT FIND IT!" whilst bouncing up and down and David repeatedly handcuffing dudes together in their underwear to make it look like they're doing butt stuff (he's not batting a thousand).
