Guided by Liv Ullmann and with commentaries from a number of prominent filmmakers for whom Bergman is and remains an important influence - such as Woody Allen, Olivier Assayas, Bernardo Bertolucci, Arnaud Desplechin, John Sayles, Martin Scorsese and Lars von Trier, the film provides a vivid portrait of the artist who in each new project found a challenge for himself and for the people he worked with - both actors and colleagues behind the camera. Kind of informative, and it's nice of Bjorkman to give us behind-the-scenes footage of Bergman films that we the public might not see otherwise. Unfortunately, this is quite dull even if you're interested in the subject. Bjorkman was instructed to make a completed film or two out of leftover footage that the Ingmar Bergman Foundation has, so even at 66 minutes this often feels padded, just like the Roger Corman cut-and-paste movies do

I second Stain's review. There are snippets of great footage (giving Ingrid direction, goofing off on Cries and Whispers), but being an hour long and padded is a bad sign. Also, von Trier's "interview" seemed more like a low-fi camera mic hooked up to an improptu speakerphone call. Actually, they all felt that way.
