Michael Shayne: Private Detective

The first movie about detective Mike Shayne! The series started with likable Lloyd Nolan in the title role. And with that you get a lot of clever remarks, more humor then suspense, really, which was a familiar theme as far as mystery films of that time goes. Absolutely nothing new, just another fast talking detective taking the place of Philo Vance or someone other short lived pulp fiction character which the studios tried to build a franchise around. A lot of fun though!
