Humanizes refugees escaping the Middle East amidst western misunderstanding. Fav scene: talking with the western journalist who didn't really seem to care.

Compelling and gripping saga is certainly a refutation of the "immigrant invaders" narrative prevalent in the west, though Fazili's background in film-making shows with some scenes/set-ups having the feeling of being staged moments - not necessarily a bad thing, however the inherent drama is so strong, it may have been a more effective film if it had been compiled and contextualised by someone at more of a remove from the situation. Still a heart-rending and illuminating document.
