Do you like Toshiro Mifune? Me too. Want to watch movie people gush over him? Here you go. There are some interesting insights into Mifune's personal life, but in truth this documentary is as much about Kurosawa as it is the actor, and it pretty much glosses over everything except his starring roles in Kurosawa- and Inagaki-directed jidaigeki, which is to say that it captures only a fraction of the portrait of a multitalented artist.

DVDRip Bipolar.

Pros: - Provides historical and film genre context. - Gives personal insight from his fellow actors/actresses and his family about who Mifune was as a person. /// Cons: - Too short. - Spends far too much time on his collaborations with Kurosawa and basically glosses over the rest of his filmography (they mention a few Hiroshi Inagaki-directed films and Mifune's American career and that's it). - Omits the reasons of the break-up between Mifune and Kurosawa after "Red Beard".

Boy is Keanu's narration stilted, like a 5th grade reading class. Doc presents Mifune's life as basically meaningless outside of working with Kurosawa.

This doc was a real letdown. It plays like a greatest hits more than a look at the life and career of one of the best actors to grace this earth
