I was told this was actually a good clever comedy. I was told wrong. This is later american pie movie dumb.

Zac Efron actually has good comedic timing and presence. Unfortunately he picks terrible movies. This one isn't as terrible as some, but its a struggle to get through without wanting to check the watch or bash ones own skull in.

If you need a blast of mad-raunchy summer fun then this baby comes damn close to filling the bill. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates has the jumpy exuberance of a puppy that won't stop humping your leg. It's a bummer that the jokes don't land often enough, especially in the final third when the tone takes a turn for the tame.

Mike and Dave is an anomaly. For a completely cast driven movie, I'm never sure if the cast works. It definitely seems like Efron and Devine have good chemistry, but I can't help but think the characters were meant for Hill and Tatum, or Rogen and Franco. Meanwhile, Plaza and Kendrick feel forced the whole time, but it seems like the current cast improvised some of the better jokes. I don't know, I'm torn.

My roommate and her friend were watching this when I came home, then her friend left and my roommate went to bed and I watched the last 45 mins by myself. Aubrey Plaza is the love of my life but even the most perfect beautiful radiant hilarious woman alive could not save this dog turd.

Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza are the only pluses in this poor at best, but mostly just cringeworthy unfunny comedy.

Relatively rote, but Zac Efron is genuinely likable, which makes the whole rough routine more bearable and the ending actually rather emotionally affecting.

W3E1P0S0V1M1A0R1. Pretty funny and didn't hate it, but almost as dumb as they come save a few clever bits. Kendrick actually doesn't do this stoner humor that well (especially compared to her usual dry/deadpan stuff), and Efron has never really been good at anything. Adam Devine is a solid comedian in the Adam Sandler vein.

This film has a couple of funny moments and numerous moments that fall flat. The cast does a fine job but the script is very weak. Ultimately it is the weak script that brings the movie down. Overall this film is disappointing.

Broad Low-brow summer comedy with a fun cast. Maybe not the most memorable comedy. but the chemistry and improve of the main cast keep the movie from being too forgettable. Good easy cable fun to be stumbled upon.

MIKE AND DAVE need a bit more imagination to go along with their self-awareness. Watching lazy, self-centered people just be horrible to one another gets old pretty quick, even when the performances are solid across the board--and, in the cases of Kendrick and Plaza, far exceed the material that's been given to them. Recommended for nihilists, who are most likely to see themselves in this film (not that they'd care).

The same shit they always do. All about being outrageous. Got plenty of laughs, but at the same time they're trying too hard and it shows.

I wouldn't have brought any of these people to my wedding. Don't get me wrong, they seem like funny people... but disaster follows them everywhere. I think this film has a lot more funny parts then people give it credit for. Zac Efron steals the show for the most part. I'm a huge fan of Aubrey Plaza and I liked her in this but she didn't knock it out of the park like she did in the To-Do List. Anna Kendrick is also lovely but she didn't blow me away in this film...

I expected this to be bad, and I was not disappointed. It's also extremely funny in many places (do not expect subtle humor--it's good and raunchy). Predictably, it loses it as the protagonists--for lack of a better term--couple up and find love.

Typically low-brow collegiate-age mainstream comedy - so expect your fair share of barrel-scraping and empty laughs. But to its credit, Kendrick and Plaza did a better job of portraying two nasty, morally bankrupt party sluts than Poehler & Fey did in Sisters. They keep this movie alive. And there's some physical comedy in there which, low-brow as it may be, hits the spot and gets me laughing. Don't seek this out, but by all means switch off and enjoy a couple of big belly laughs if it's on.

This is the second Kendrick-Plaza movie and the third Kendrick-DeVine movie, and these are good team-ups, and this is where the film mostly works, because goodness knows there aren't a lot of genuine laughs. There's a happy pleasure in seeing this young talent get a little crazy and have fun, and if one can forgive the characters for promising more than they deliver, shallowly motivated by a trip to Hawaii, one can certainly excuse the actors for doing the same thing.

i like comedies with totally over the top characters doing totally over the top things without things getting overly diverted for the necessary evil of cliche dramatics. and i love this cast. so this was great and i laughed a bunch!

Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick were definitely the hilarious part of this film. Both have proven to awesome in the past. Its not to say that Devine and Efron are not funny, this is just becoming normal for both them. Kendrick and Plaza keep showing versatility and that is why this film works at all. It is funny in spots but not the laugh uncontrollably type film it presented itself to be. Watch it as a date night film and its really okay if you dont watch the whole thing.

I usually find myself enjoying when actors are cast against-type and wonder why it doesn't happen more often. Aubrey Plaza and, to a less extent Anna Kendrick, show me why. Plaza as a bad girl was never believable. Plaza as a bad girl pretending to be a nice girl was just confusing. She's never been my favorite actress, but I really feel like she cannot be anything other than the character she plays on Parks and Rec. Kumail Nanjiani absolutely kills it, though.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates fulfills that formula to the tee. And the breakdown between naughty and nice in this predictable, formulaic, raunchy flick is about 95% naughty, 5% nice. And that's probably being generous. (pluggedin.com)

A solid cast lends itself to some hilarious ad-libbed hilarity. If you'd have told me in the mid aughts that Efron would be a fella I'd be interested in seeing in a comedy film I'd think you were crazy. But here we are. Also WTF Maron?

I am not sure if this film could have been any better with different actors. Plaza and Kendrick don't feel comfortable in their roles, as if their characters were designed for someone else. Efron is a blank slate, neither funny nor unfunny. So, the film leaves it up to Devine to be the driving force. He is okay. The film, in place of chemistry between characters, offers up snappy one-liners and the Herculean task of getting through the boring plot.

Mike and Dave (aka Fox) Need Creative Writers and Ballsy Producers. A very formulaic, by-the-numbers rom-com that adds nothing new to the equation. Just boring.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is the funniest movie of summer 2016. It's a riot from start to finish if you like prolonged screwball shenanigans and raunchy ad-libbed back-and-forths. The cast kills it in almost every scene and there's even a little bit of growth from the characters along the way. It's not particularly memorable and it doesn't have a lot of depth to it, but it's hilarious and that's the most important thing when it comes to a comedy.
