A lot of people seem to really like this but it just didn't do anything for me.

Ishii likes to ride the line between aesthetic experimentation and telling a story. Kyoshin is an intriguing multi-layered art film that shows how talented he is in pulling this off. I think they must be very carefully constructed, particularly these middle and late period films.

Concerning existential dread and the feeling of not existing, this comes across as an exploration of the ambiguity that lies between the suicidal impulse and the desire for reinvention. In that sense there's something to it, and also possesses the virtue of being short, but saw it in a low-definition format, which may have undersold its others.
