I can't truly hate anything with Sandra Bullock in it, but boy, does this movie make me try.

Although I have to admit I did laugh a few times, it only happened when I left the room to watch something else.

I didn't watch this. I'm pretty sure a swallow - probably an African swallow - was carrying a copy of this DVD, which was probably hurled out of a window or nearby dumpster, dropped into my hands because their mate had gone to check out some coconut halves instead of helping to carry the disk, which unbalanced my sexy stride so I tripped and fell forward, releasing the disk into the open DVD player - I was about to watch some Bergman - and started playing by some trickery of its own. I swear.

Why do I like Bullock despite the fact that she constantly stars in shit like this? I don't know. This is yet another unnecessary, and terrible, sequel to a movie that somehow transcended mediocrity into being watchable. See: Bridget Jones and The Whole 9 yards for other examples.

Much of this is just an attempt to do more of the same, but whatever humor worked in the first movie is lame and tired this time around, and whatever Bullock did that made her charming in the first one - here it is obnoxious. Miss Congeniality 1 was a surprisingly decent comedy I thought, but this is one of those sequels that kinda manage to retroactively spoil the original.

The movie is bad. Completely lost regarding the first film, that was not good. It was silly, but a little funny. This is just silly.

This movie is okay - just mindless entertainment to be sure - but my biggest problem is that most of the charm of the first movie is almost completely absent

It's not overly terrible it's just really substanceless and boring with stupid humor and dumb characters. I actually liked the original quite well but this losses most of what was so good about the first and even manages to completely waste Shatner's presence or lack there of.

Seeing this film theatrically was one of the most painful experiences of my life. It should surprise precisely no one that this was a date movie, and not one that I hand-picked for a great night out, but Bullock and Regina King create a charisma vacuum that still ranks as one of the most interminable film experiences of my life. I mean, I snuck some chicken into the theater, so that helped, but this one's really a wash all around.

The film's predecessor at least had consistently funny and well-acted performances from Bullock, Caine, and Shatner to make up for a seen-before plot. This film has no Caine, hardly any Shatner, and Bullock just isn't as funny this time around. There are a few good gags but overall the movie falls victim to trying too hard to live up to the original. The spunk and humour has dried up, and its plot isn't just predictable but contrived. An inferior sequel.

Well, how good could it have been anyway? Doomed from the start as being unnecessary and redundant, it's still marginally entertaining and diverting background noise, especially during the moments when Bullock isn't indulging some of her unfunny schtick (the nursing home scene is the nadir, even as it introduces the always welcome Brennan). Bader is no Michael Caine, but his bitchy commentary lands most of the time; ditto some amusing interjections from an increasingly frantic Shatner.
