It tells the story of a young boy who is excluded from the rest of his classmates, the underlying reason for which is not made clear to start. He spends his time having to play in the corner of the classroom on his own, excluded from the group. The boy eventually befriends a girl in the class and invites her home to meet his talking pet raven. (IMDB comments)

It's very naive, but the naivety and childishness is actually what makes it so touching. Working with kids seems like a very herzogian thing to me, and his magic touch is noticeable and what makes this little short so cute.

A somewhat bizarre story of social exclusion, the gifting of a pet raven and the dressing of hamsters in costume. It is a film of children, with adults noticeably absent.

A sweet ending isn't enough to make me think of this as anything but amateur hour. Wait, this is mid-70s Herzog....what the hell???

Stark!

The "secret" is pretty damn adorable, but this is just way too short and blunt to really register as anything more than imagery.

A 13 minute short film about a preschool boy named Martin who's shunned by the rest of his school mates. This film is peculiar in its apparent lack of any substance whatsoever. Is this supposed to be allegorical or something? I really don't understand the point. There's really nothing aesthetically or thematically interesting about this. It just... exists. Herzog never fails to puzzle me.
