This version of Musashi is much different than any of the other versions I've seen. Musashi here was shown as a philosopher and artist as well as a fighter which is a side of him that is often over looked in most of the stories I've seen. The film was well shot, had great cinematography, and some interesting camera shots. The story was very compressed and there wasn't enough time for any character development. In my opinion the actor who played Musashi lacked charisma and screen presence.

Kenji Mizoguchi's Miyamoto Musashi (1944) is such a minor movie of a famous character, that I didn't really know how to approach this. I didn't love it, the fights where almost comical, the story rushed, but something drew me into their world anyway.
