In Soviet culture, Marlen Khutsiev's Mne dvadtsat' let (I Am Twenty) is the cinematic equivalent of Sherlock Holmes' dog that didn't bark. One of the most significant films of 1961, when it was completed under the title Zastava Il'icha (Ilyich's Gate, the name of a Moscow neighborhood), it was not released until 1965, and then in a truncated form. I could make a picture book out of screenshots from this movie, but even that wouldn't capture all the magnificent movement, such gracefully choreographed tracking shots. It's gorgeous, breathtaking, exciting photography. And the soundtrack has a lot to offer as well. The narrative has a freewheeling new wave vibe to it, accentuating individual moments rather than grand dramatic arcs. Although a rather long film, nothing felt superfluous, every scene had its own insights or charms.

Em honra de Marlen Khutsiev (1925 - 2019). O Tarkovsky está creditado nisso como "jerk at party" acho que isso resume bem o seu papel. DVDRip no MakingOff.

A generation reaches the age at which their parents suffered terribly during WW2, and find themselves confronted with a different problem: not how to survive, but how to live, and how to do so in an era that seems to be on the cusp of a new and ambiguous dawn of freedom. Shpalikov is a very good writer, it seems, and this film weaves these themes together in a way that evinces a very good feeling both for the rhythm of days and the rhythm of lives. Really a genuine attempt to express something.
